Zelda Is Such a Cute Little Mother

Zelda loves her babies.  She usually has one or more in her arms these days.
The other night she had to tuck all of her babies in to bed.

She laid them all out on top of a blanket, then put another one on top.

Then she laid down and went to sleep herself.

What a good mom.

Happy Easter.

Easter what a wonderful time to remember our Savior Jesus Christ.  His birth, his life, his suffering for us and his death.  But most importantly his glorious Resurrection!

My father passed away 9 years ago, and every Easter, I feel new gratitude to Jesus Christ for his resurrection and opening the doors of death to all, that all will be resurrected.  My father will live again and will hold me in his arms.  We all will live again after we die.  Truly the sting of death is gone.

Because of ordinances in his holy temples, my family is sealed together for eternity.  My dad will still be my dad, my mom will still be my mom, siblings will still be my siblings, my husband will still be my husband and my kids will still be my kids and so on through all generations that have been sealed.

I love God's plan of happiness.

It is true what he says in John 14:27.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

May we all feel the peace that the Savior gives at this Easter time and all year through.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Today we colored Easter Eggs.

Then had an Easter Egg hunt.  Ok we had several, since most of the kids wanted a turn hiding them.

Ocean looking for eggs.

Harvey wondering where to look first.

Zelda found an egg.

Then she gave it to Daphne.

Watch out Rez, you might step on one.

Zelda found 3 eggs and a ball,

then she decided to sit down and have a little snack.

One less egg to hide.

Spring = Chicks

It is that time of year, Spring!  Yea!  Time for new chicks!
Here, where we live, we can have a total of 8 hens.  We have 6 now, but only 4 of them are laying.  Of the two that aren't laying, Fancy Pants is obviously molting,

so she has an excuse.

(Here is what she normally looks like.)

But Lacey looks perfect.  She hasn't been laying since November.  I thought it might be that it was winter, even though we had supplemental light in the coop to counteract the short days, but she hadn't started laying yet, so I was ready to get rid of her and get 3 new chicks to add to our flock.

But she is so pretty, that we decided to keep her.  (Fancy Pants did have a 9 month laying hiatus last year, then started laying again in November.)

Our chickens are definitely more in the "pet" than "livestock" category.  Though I am not ready to put chicken diapers on them and let them run around the house.

We ended up getting two new chicks.  We got a Welsummer and named her Summer after our Welsummer chick that died last year.

And a Rhode Island Red, we named Ruby.

You have to hold onto them, they are quick!

They are very cute and fun.  I have decided that 2 chicks make much less of a mess than 4 chicks.

We let them run around in the sunshine.

Mo

Mo had to get some fillings done.  Here is trying to smile with half his face numb.

Julius aged 50 years.

The other day Julius came into the kitchen where I was and said, "Mom, how do you like my hair?"  He turned around and showed me the back.  At first I thought he had just made it stick out, but then I realized that there are actually 2 bald lines up the back of his head.  This is one of the hazards of having a salon in the house an having hair cutting tools within easy access of children.

We went into the salon to finish his balding job.  I started on the top and when I got to this point

Julius asked if I was done.
I asked him if he liked it that way.
With a huge grin on his face, he said, "YES!"

It was so funny. He reminds me of a little Bishop.  Can't you just picture him sitting on the stand in sacrament meeting (maybe not with the ice cream cape on).

As much as he wanted it, I didn't leave it.  We finished the job.

Look how cute he is.  His head feels like velvet.

Rub a Dub, Dub

As soon at the tub was functional, the kids had to try it out.  They all put on their swim suits and and a tub party.

The only bad things about our new bathroom are that Zelda can open the toilet lid (remember her love of playing and throwing things in the water?) and if she is in the tub, she can turn on the water.
